The Dutch horn player, Camiel Lemmens, started his career at the Conservatorium of Maastricht where he is pursuing the Bachelor diploma under the guidance of Will Sanders and Willy Bessems. During his studies Camiel was selected to be horn player of various chamber music ensembles and orchestras. According to that he finds his interests in the symphonic orchestral music, chamber music, as well as cross-overs between classical and contemporary music styles.
As chamber musician he plays in the jong Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (NBE, young Netherlands Wind Ensemble). With this ensemble he has played in renowned concert venues in the Netherlands, such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In addition to the young version, he also played several times with the NBE itself. The NBE is known for their way of playing music of all times, different genres and cultural backgrounds.
Camiel is since 2021 the academy student in the Sinfonieorchester Aachen (symphony orchestra of Aachen). Besides the projects he plays there with the orchestra, he gets there lessons from the other horn players of the orchestra to become a more experienced orchestral musician.
As soloist Camiel played in 2016 and 2017 with the philharmonie zuid-nederland, where he performed in a concert series in 2016 with a woodwind quintet. In 2017 he performed Morceau de Concert by Camille Saint-Saens. Furthermore he obtained twice a 2nd price at the Prinses Christina Concours in the year 2016 and 2018.
On television, Camiel got a short documentary by the regional broadcast channel L1, which shows his development during the years, starting in 2014. With short interviews with, inter alia, his teachers and parents, it also shows a portrait of Camiel about his personality, character and passion he has for music. Besides the documentary Camiel performed at the festival Viva Classic Live in Venlo in 2015 and 2018. These performances were also broadcasted on Dutch national television.
At the young age of 13 he turned out as a young gifted horn player and already started doing auditions for various ensembles and orchestra’s. So he became horn player of the jongjongNBE (youngest version of the NBE) and the Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands.
