Camiel Lemmens, born in the Netherlands in 1999, is a talented horn player with an impressive track record in the world of classical music. He currently holds the position of Assistant Principal Horn at the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, a renowned orchestra that performs at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Tonhalle Düsseldorf.

 

Camiel is a dedicated musician and is pursuing his master's degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, where he is mentored by Professor Johannes Hinterholzer and Professor Carsten Duffin. He completed his bachelor's degree cum laude at the Maastricht Conservatory in 2022, where he was taught by Professor Will Sanders and Willy Bessems.

 

His commitment to music has also earned Camiel a temporary contract for Assistant Principal Horn at the Gärtnerplatz State Theater in Munich from January to April 2023. Additionally, he has played with prominent orchestras such as the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.

 

During his studies, Camiel was selected as a hornist for various chamber music ensembles and orchestras. His passion lies in symphonic orchestral music, opera and chamber music. He has gained impressive experiences, including participation in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra in 2023 and the European Union Youth Orchestra in 2021. He also completed an internship with the Aachen Symphony Orchestra from 2021 to 2022.

 

Camiel has also excelled as a chamber musician and was active with the young Netherlands Wind Ensemble (jongNBE). With this ensemble, he performed at renowned concert venues in the Netherlands, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. jongNBE is considered a breeding ground for the regular NBE, where he now regularly participates. The NBE is known for its versatile repertoire and performance of music from different eras, genres, and cultural backgrounds.

His musical journey began at a young age when, at just 13 years old, he demonstrated his talent by successfully auditioning for various ensembles and orchestras. He became a hornist with the jong jong Netherlands Wind Ensemble, the youngest version of the NBE and the Youth Orchestra Netherlands.

 

Camiel Lemmens embodies the pursuit of musical excellence and has a promising future in the world of classical music.
