Camiel Lemmens (born 1999) is a horn player with a distinguished reputation in the world of classical music. He is currently Associate Principal Horn of the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, a renowned orchestra that performs at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Tonhalle Düsseldorf.
In July 2025, Camiel graduated cum laude with his master’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, where he studied under Professor Johannes Hinterholzer and Professor Carsten Duffin. He previously completed his bachelor’s degree cum laude at the Maastricht Conservatory in 2022, under the guidance of Professor Will Sanders and Willy Bessems.
In 2023, Camiel held a temporary position as Associate Principal Horn at the Gärtnerplatz State Theater in Munich. He has also performed as a guest player with leading orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a chamber musician, Camiel distinguishes himself through his expressive and versatile approach. In the summer of 2025, he was Young Artist in Residence at the Muziekzomer Gelderland, where he presented innovative chamber music productions at unique locations. Earlier, he performed with the young Netherlands Wind Ensemble (jongNBE), with which he appeared at major concert venues including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
He has also been a member of prestigious youth orchestras such as the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra (2023) and the European Union Youth Orchestra (2021). From 2021 to 2022, he held an internship with the Aachen Symphony Orchestra.
Camiel’s musical journey began at the age of thirteen, when he was selected for the jong jong Netherlands Wind Ensemble and later for the Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands. Since then, he has developed into a versatile and dedicated horn player, with a deep passion for both orchestral repertoire and chamber music.
